On July 3rd, we visited Gent. After the metro ride to the train station and then the train ride to Gent (only 30 min) Eliot needed to stretch his legs in a really nice park with some big trees.

Then it was on to tour the old city and walk along the canal. Gent is very pleasant and manageable in one day. Eliot slept very well in his stroller as we strolled along.

After he woke up, we ascended a big tower. It was a little scary carrying Eliot up the winding staircase and passing people coming down. Once we got to the second floor there thankfully was an elevator. Out on the "viewing deck" that circled the tower, though, there was not much between us and open sky, a fact that would not have bothered us pre-Eliot. Chris held tightly to him and we enjoyed the views of the city.

Eliot loves fountains and here he is with Chris playing at a fountain in a Gent square.
We hope to come back to Gent and take a boat tour on the canal with guests.... Anyone?
