Bastogne

Bastogne was the site of heavy fighting during WWII. An American commander, when asked by the Germans to surrender, famously said, "Nuts!" The slogan was repeated on tourist gear throughout the town and on the shirts of the staff at the memorial sight museum.
Eliot enjoying a raspberry tart on Grandma Carol's lap. We ate lunch here and Eliot saw the raspberry tarts right when we walked in and started proclaiming, "Raspberry! Raspberry!" So, raspberries he had. The waitress here only spoke French so I got to use my French although either she did not hear, did not understand, or forgot my "pas de mayonaise" for my sandwhich, which came slathered in it. Yuck. My coworker told me he knew what I meant when I told him the story....
The US war memorial. Pat is atop it. All the states are listed in alphabetical order across the top of the star-shaped monument. Except Alaska and Hawaii. It took me awhile to figure out that it was because they weren't states yet when the monument was first built.
Pat, Chris, and Eliot atop the monument in the cold and wind..... Eliot is such a trooper!
